(Polygonaceae)
Mesa Top. Dry elevated tundra with shallow
well-drained soils on fractured bedrock.
Dominated by Dryas octapetala, Silene acaulis,
lichens, grasses, and low-growing herbs and
woody shrubs. Fairly com on. Flowers white
or pink with many loose bulblets on lower 2/3
of spike.
