Mesa Slope. Dry well-drained tundra with
shallow soils or steep talus. Dominated by
Cassiope tetragona, Dryas octapetala,
Potentilla spp., lichens, and low-growing
herbs and shrubs. Collected at upper and
middle reaches of S slope on dry soil between
talus swaths. Flowers purple; petal and fila-
ment bases white. Com on.
