Mesa Top. Dry elevated tundra with shallow
well-drained soils on fractured bedrock.
Dominated by Dryas octapetala, Silene acaulis,
lichens, grasses, and low-growing herbs and
woody shrubs. Flowers white, stamens yellow.
Very common; occurs nearly everywhere, but
forms a dense mat in rocky flat areas.
