Astragalus polaris Benth.
(Fabaceae [Leguminosae])
Mesa Slope. Dry well-drained tundra with
shallow soils or steep talus. Dominated by
Cassiope tetragona, Dryas octapetala,
Potentilla spp., lichens, and low-growing
herbs and shrubs. Collected on dry gravelly
N slope of Mesa. Flowers purple; stems matted,
decumbent. Common in locality.
