Mesa Top. Dry elevated tundra with shallow
well-drained soils on fractured bedrock.
Dominated by Dryas octapetala, Silene acauli

lichens, grasses, and low-growing herbs and
woody shrubs. Collected on bare ground in
disturbed area (backfilled archeological
square). Dense broad tufts; bright green.
